Engraving and Printing (Beginner)

Ages: 17+
This course offers a comprehensive introduction to engraving, printing and graphic design. Participants will learn to analyse and work with two-dimensional surfaces through symbols, lines, visual vocabulary and geometric shapes. These aesthetic values and graphic elements will be used to design surfaces in an artistic way. Participants will also learn about the multiple gradations of the colour grey from white to black and attempt to apply colour distribution methods to their artwork by making use of different techniques, such as shading, hatching and dotting.

Ages: 17+
In this course, participants will learn a variety of engraving and printing techniques, from monoprinting to collagraph. They will also gain an understanding of the differences between single and duplicate prints and between coloured prints and monoprints. Additionally, participants will work with new materials such as wood or linoleum.

Ages: 17+
In this course, participants will learn techniques for coloured linoleum printing, flat silkscreen printing and metal embossing. They will also create works by combining techniques.
Sculpting (Beginner)
Course for Youth and Adults

Ages: 17+
This course is a general introduction to sculptures and three-dimensional shapes. Participants will learn the art of sculpting and the relationship between mass and space. They will learn how to shape clay and explore the sculptural uses of gypsum and its treatment as well as the process of casting and extraction. Participants will learn to upgrade their work from an almost two-dimensional shape, such as a medal, to a fully three-dimensional shape, such as a human face.
Painting and Drawing (Beginner)

Ages: 17+
This course is a first step into the world of art and design. Participants will develop an understanding of the main elements in a work of art—from lines, shapes and composition to shadow and light, colour values, shading and surface texture. They will examine various colour theories in depth, including the colour circle, complementary colours, warm and cold colours, and basic and secondary colours. They will also study some elements of perspective through still life paintings.
Painting and Drawing (Advanced)

In this advanced course, participants will learn how to use and treat acrylic or oil colours with additives. They will also learn how to use textiles, wood, cardboard and newspaper artistically for different types of subjects, such as gypsum statues or living figures. In addition, they will become familiar with some of the basics for drawing the artistic anatomy of the human form.
